Wrench Time: Putting in WORK is the only way to get RESULTS

Updated: Feb 17, 2022

Some time ago I had a friend who referred to any kind of work that he had to do as "wrench time", he wasn't a mechanic and didn't even own a vehicle, let alone a wrench. None the less he introduced that phrase into my lexicon. Now it's the perfect phrase for my wrenchin' goals!

Let's get right to the point - if you want any result you have to put in the work. It's really that simple.

We are, and become, what we consistently do.

How do you get motivated to do that work? If you truly, deep in your heart, want the outcome you say you want, you can get yourself emotionally charged - energized - to pick up the tools and get started. You will feel compelled to get up and take action. For more on getting motived and clear on what you need to do, check out the post Start! With the Finish!

Here's my personal experience on putting in the work. When I first bought my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport (JKU) it was bone stock, it did come with mud tires, but that was it! And to offset the mud tires: chrome mirrors, grill, running boards, and gas cap cover. If you are new to the off road world, let me catch you up on the worst kept secret - off roaders hate chrome, especially plastic painted chrome! That is my humble beginning back on July 21st, 2014. Over six years later... I've got a 4" lift, 35" tires, 4.56 gears, a rear e-locker, PSC heavy duty steering gear box, all heavy duty links up front, off road bumpers, winch, adjustable control arms, skid plates, and I'm sure some things I forgot. It's my second lift kit and my second set of tires. My first lift was 2" leveling kit and 33" tires. I've done all that work except the gears and lockers myself. The point is that it took a lot of time and work and I didn't do it in a day. I always knew what my next upgrade would be and I constantly pursued it. In between all that wrenching, I took every chance I could get to throw it in 4-lo and hit the dirt!
